Getting ready for your date with your Valentine? Red of course is the color to wear! Instead of going out and wearing a plain red dress, find one with a little fabulous embellishment! The keywords here is little embellishment, you do not want to go out looking like a red disco ball! I love this Vivienne by Vivienne Tam dress with the embellished shoulders - they make such a statement on an otherwise simple dress! Wearing something like this...there is no way that your Valentine will be able to take his eyes off of you!

Prints for Spring

I was so excited when prints were coming back in season! I went through my closet and found this Hoss dress from a couple years ago. I love the bold print and beaded neckline with the simple silhouette. More importantly, if you really love a piece in your closet that is no longer in trend for the season and you just can't let it go, keep it! Fashion recycles - you can always update an old piece with new accessories and this is a perfect example!

It's Affordable to be Bold!

A couple posts ago I talked about the BOLD color trend for Spring and Summer. We all know sometime these trends are a little pricey to have in your closet, but I was able to find really great affordable pieces! H&M has a great selection of bright and bold colored clothing for the season.. I purchased this cobalt blue blazer there for only $24.95 and I love it with a great button up! I also purchased this Kelly green top for only $17.95 - and believe me these pictures do not do the colors justice! They're bright and beautiful and at such a great price!

Newspaper Nails

My friend showed me this really easy nail decal - Newspaper nails! All you need is a nail file, a base and top coat, and small strips of newspaper to cover your nails - I like to cut out words with fun words and fonts, lastly you'll need alcohol.

Here are the steps:

1. File and shape your nails

2. Paint your nails with a base color

3. Paint your nails with a color and make sure they dry completely - I do 2 coats with a white or light pink color

4. You're ready for the newspaper! Pour the alcohol into a dish and dip each nail in the dish for about 15 seconds.

5. Now it's time to act fast! - Quickly put a piece of newspaper on your nail and press down (make sure you don't press too long or you'll nail polish will come off)

6. Gently pull the newspaper of your nail

7. Finally - put a top coat on and you're done!

Antique Rings - The New Bling!

Another jewelry trend I am obsessed with the antique rings! Antique jewelry gives such a classic feel to an outfit and there is always have such a great story behind each piece. I love pairing antique rings with a bold pair of earrings or bracelets to complete my outfit! The first ring has a beautiful design that makes such a statement. The second is an antique spoon made into ring - how unique! The last ring is simple, but the gold band with the pink sapphire is so classy. A similar ring to these can be found on Urban Outfitters- there is a Collegiate Etched Ring for $24 (it's a set of 3) that is so great!

Favorite Makeup Brand

One of my all time favorite makeup brands is Bobbi Brown. I have the Smooth Skin Foundation and the Creamy Concealer and I have no idea what I would do with out it or what I must have looked like before using it! I love the foundation - it gives such a great coverage and gives me a great healthy glow and the concealer is even more of a must have in my makeup bag! It covers every blemish and any dark circles flawlessly. You can get these both at Sephora for $55 and $32 respectively.

Chunky & Gemstones for Jewelry 2012

The styles of chunky and crystals have come together in jewelry this year! Big, over sized crystals are being seen everywhere right now and it is easy to see why. Chunky crystals can make such a statement and can be worn with so many different outfits. So the chunkier (and funkier!) the better!

Party Pumps

I was on the search for a pair of party pumps for what seemed to be forever. I did not want something that was obnoxiously covered in sequin and glitter - yuck! I needed to find a heel with a little sparkle with an edge and then I came across these RACHEL Rachel Roy Kimi pumps at Macy's - this store has really come through in the shoe department recently! These pumps make a statement and have a funky studded heel that I LOVE! And... becuase they are not smothered in sequin I can wear Kimi with a dress to go for the night out, or pair them with skinny jeans and a top to go out for dinner.

Spring for Color

Spring 2012 is all about color. Before, we would only add a color accent to a neutral outfit, but now do not be afraid to go bold and wear color head-to-toe! I have been on the search for the best suede boots with a heel for a long time. Finally, I found them! Michael Michael Kors "Adena" Boots has a great stiletto heal and are super feminine. Adena can go with jeans, dresses and skirts, and they are super comfortable! I found mine at Macy's for $295.
